  REFLECTIONS - JOURNAL ENTRIES

WEEK 11 - WEEK 12

Time passed in a blink of an eye, it's already my last 2 weeks of internship. This time round really felt so fast maybe because I enjoyed this term's internship so much more than the previous one.

The last 2 weeks of my internship was the busiest weeks as I was assigned to do a presentation based on the topic of their new engagement. I had to stay back in office to work on it until late night and then continue working once I get home so that I do not have to waste time on the jam on the way back. These 2 weeks was very heavy and new! It was a very meaningful project as it aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of our National Agendas in improving the positions of Bumiputera in Malaysia. I've learnt so much about our country and did a comprehensive desktop research about the poverty and income issue in Malaysia since the implementation of the first National Agenda.

Not every interns are given the chance to do a presentation before they leave therefore, I am really glad that my senior did encourage me to do so because this would be a good opportunity to learn and get feedbacks although I had only less then 2 weeks to do research on the topic, gather data, data analysis and preparing the slides. I'm glad I pushed myself hard enough and did not give up when I was stuck but to seek for advice when I do not know how to move on the topic.

Not just learning the skills to prepare presentation slides, but I've gained knowledge on what kinds of informations I could make use of and to think out of the box to look for evidence and data. It was a good practice ground for me because it's not everytime that I can present my findings and hear feedbacks without being judged as they knew that I am an intern and I was there to learn. They would point out mistakes if any in a very nice way and I had the chance to be out of my comfort zone to present to a group of people where I might not feel comfortable with. I am very glad to have this experience during this internship.

*However, due to the privacy policy, I am not able to expose my findings in public but if you would like to take a look at it I can show it to you.

Note to self: Try my best in the task given before giving up or saying 'I can't do it' because we do not know how much we can stretch ourselves so that we do not regret that we have forgone the opportunity due to what we thought we couldn't do.

The presentation took place on my last day of internship where I had to present to the team of this engagement. All I had to present was about the improvement and progress of the poverty and income issues among Bumiputera in Malaysia. In this presentation, I was also expected to give some of my evaluation on the progress and improvement at the moment and also some brief summary of my understanding about the implemented Agenda (which I focused much on the New Economic Model)

Being a stage fright person, I was really stressed out the few days before my presentation but luckily I had supportive seniors, they actually discussed on findings during my presentation which makes it felt more like a discussion rather than a presentation. The environment that morning was calm and I had good comments overall for my presentation.
