Fortunately for me, I do not have to worry about choosing the correct company or being rejected by the company of my choice. Since I joined the Exectrack Programme organized which ia a collaboration of Taylor's University, KMPG and CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), I will be placed in KPMG for all my internships. In addition, I actually had the chance to have an internship experience at the end of my first year, which was last year. Therefore, I did not go through all the hassle to select a company, send in resumes & cover letters and go for interviews. 

 

Many people will see KMPG as one of the big four accounting focused firms. When I say I am doing my internship in KPMG the first thing most people ask is, "So what do you do there? Auditing?". In fact, KPMG offers so much more opportunities than just doing accounts related work such as tax, tax advisory, management consulting, IT consulting, risk consulting, corporate finance and many more. On my first internship I was placed into Management Consulting- Business Performance Services (BPS) and so I decided to continue in this department.

 

BPS was such an eye opener for me especially after my first year when I had no clue at all where am I going to. Compared to other departments, BPS has a very diversified job scope. Each engagement will lead to something different and we are required to pick up things very quickly in every new engagement. Therefore I decided to go back to BPS for my second internship as I could learn something new again.
